Christmas Wish List '05

Well, it's that time of year again, time to get free toys!! Well here is my list for this Christmas.

Watch
I haven't been wearing a watch lately (I received a nice one a few years ago, but the knob has since broken) , but it would be nice to have a good watch to give a more sophisticated look. It should be elegant and classy, with a stainless steal case, and a round, dark dial. The case should be somewhat minimalistic, not too large. I like the contrast of light white or silver hands on the dark dial. Also, I've looked at a few on-line, and I like those that don't have all the numbers, but maybe 6,9,12, and solid lines representing the others. Small notches for minutes would be useful too I suppose. A date indicator is not necessarily needed but would be a fine addition. As for the strap, either a dark leather or stainless steel would do, but nothing too flashy. Of course the strap would be less important as those can be replaced.

Messenger Bag
I got my current book bag about 6-7 years old, and while it still gets the job done, the one zipper is unreliable, and it won't be of too much use after I graduate college in May. However, there will likely be occasions where I'll want to have a bag to carry some extra things in. Yes, I need a good man bag! I've looked around and messenger bags appear to be a functional and modern option. It could be useful in a casual or professional environment. They come in all kinds of styles, and admittedly I haven't looked at them too closely. Flexibility and functionality is important so I can have a place for everything and keep everything in its place, so to speak. For example, a place to keep my PDA and some writing instruments would be handy. I haven't been carrying my PDA recently because it's too big for a pocket, and I've been a bit disorganized as a result. I'd like something with a strap and also with a carrying handle so I could carry it either way. Also, in the even that I get a laptop some years from now, I'd like the bag to be adequate size to accomodate that. As for the color, you can't go wrong with black.

NRSV Bible
Someone told me some time ago that I need a new Bible, after seeing mine which is starting to fall apart. My witty response was that it had character, but it might be nice to have a new one with a more modern translation. My old one is a 'pocket-size' which isn't really small enough to carry in your pocket, but I like the size nonetheless. Also, I prefer the NSRV translation. Leather bound might be nice, either black or brown. I wouldn't mind cross references and Apocrypha but neither are really necessary.

Winter Coat
This is something I desperately need. My current brisk-weather jacket is just not cutting it. Above all I'd like something warm and comfortable, a good balance between warmth and ease of movement. I'd like one that is 3/4 length, and black or charcoal would be the colors of choice.

Pen
This is a similar situation as my watch. When I graduated high school I also got a nice pen and pencil set. Sorry to say I lost the pencil awhile ago, the clip on the pen has broken off, and sure enough a couple weeks ago it went missing too. My mom got my dad an engraved pen and pencil set last Christmas, so I think a monogrammed pen would be a nice accessory. The lettering could be Chrome/silver and black would be nice colors/materials. Also, I don't like really thick pens, but medium to thin would be alright. I think I might prefer initials over full name with preference of style going from double-line gothic, then times regular. Fine black ink is best, although ink is replacable so the pen itself is most important.

That's it for now. I may add some things later if something comes to mind. Happy Christmas to all. :)
